Feature: Set default view for folder with a content type option in properties

Is your feature request related to a problem? Currently for every type of file (e.g. photos) I have to set my layout mode manually. There should be options in the settings to change the layout mode for folder types like file explorer can.

Describe the solution In settings the can be a new category called default view or something like that. Then it shows all the types of folder that windows has (e.g. Documents, Pictures, General) with a drop down next to it showing the view mode (Detail, Tile, Grid (small, medium and large)) it will set to.

Requirements

  • Add a new category. Files settings > Files & folders > Folder layout types.
    • Fill drop down with Windows File Explorer folder types.
    • Add a button to change the layout settings using the same flyout as current toolbar layout button.
  • Add folder layout type in properties for folders,
    • This should sync with Windows File Explorer system.
  • Possible allow adding more types that don't sync with Windows File Explorer

It's supposed to do something like this automatically. If a folder is full of pictures it should switch to gridview.

Properly but it doesn't let me choose what style I want it in. Photos will always go to small grid mode when I could what it to go to tile view. Music will go to detail view when I would want it in small grid mode. I could do it manually but then it doesn't sync with file explorer and I have to do it for all folders and sub folders.

Yeah, It'll more often change to gridview. Tiles have been completely removed from Adaptive Layout predictions. Also, you can override Adaptive Layout and Files will remember your choice.

It will remember the choice for just that folder, but won't change the predicted layout mode for all other picture folders, right?

Yes, it'll stay overridden in that one folder only.

Do you still think this is necessary? We allow setting the default layout mode and you can override individual folders as needed.

Would be nice, since doing it individually for many sub folder is annoying. Maybe an option to apply current folder layout to all subfolders would work in the right click menu.
