Hammer++ crashes opening certain maps with "Open With..." on Windows

Hammer++ is installed with Garry's Mod.

If I open Hammer++ by itself first, then open the VMF, everything works fine.

Hammer++ also locks up after clicking OK or X on the crash dialog, and never recovers.

Unfortunately I can't share the map file, but I do have this crash information:
