This is still an issue. At least in Electron 26.3.0. Not tried newer yet, but since it's been here since Electron 13 I doubt it has been fixed.

I thought something like that was possible (thanks for pointing out some useful details around it!). But a dedicated implementation can probably be a lot simpler than the existing `to_xyz`....

That is correct. This app requires systemd. At least for now. We have not spent any time on supporting anything else since there is so little demand.

We decided not to do this. The `rust-toolchain.toml` file was not meant for this usage, and it has more cons than pros.

Do you have an example of a version of this app that does not build with a Rust version *newer* than whatever was the latest Rust release at the time...
