fontWeight / fontStyle not applying

I have this setting used to detect a particular type of comment. Specifically, I would like to make it bold and green

However, the font properties dont seem to apply to the text. You can see that the comment is been properly detected, and the color changes. However, none of the font styles are applying. (The font style for comments is italic).

Are there samples of this working with newer vscode versions?

I tried disabling some settings/extensions but I seem unable to make the examples in the readme work.

fontWeigth does work for me, it makes my comments bold, but fontStyle is indeed totally ignored.
