Cross-referencing specific section in different file

Open ludwigHoon opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

Description / Summary

  • It is already possible to cross-reference different file, this enhancement is to allow referencing a specific section.
  • This seems to be what MyST will eventually allow with their "Auto-generated header anchors".
  • For Jupyter book, it'd be great if the link is rendered according to the output format, e.g. file1 linking to file2#section-A becomes file2.html#section-A for html or file2.md#section-A respectively (not sure how it is in pdf).

Value / benefit

  • This will help us to create specific pages/sections that is indirectly linked to another.

Implementation details

  • This could be involve to MyST parser and MyST-nb (to link ipynb).

I think this might be a duplicate of https://github.com/executablebooks/MyST-Parser/issues/564.
