Similar to the infinite Pegasus clopping glitch, Niagara Falls has a spot that triggers a nonstop background sound of the off road gravel noise. It never goes away, but in other modes it eventually stops/fades away on stage transition (in time trial it goes on forever, perhaps because the level is never unloaded). It starts at 29 seconds in the video, and seems to have a Doppler effect as it lowers in volume as I get near the end, but when I cross the reset start flag it suddenly picks up in volume.

Seems the sound is different to the actual gravel noise, almost sounds like it could be noise for the waterfalls? (for me it seems to get louder as I get closer to the waterfall/tunnel too) Wonder if this is meant to play but some bug prevented it until gravel noise ended, maybe worth checking other versions to see if they're the same.
Ah yeah looks like the sound plays even without going into the gravel, seems code in PlayEnvironmentSound checks if you're passed a certain point:
Seems it sets volume to 30 if you're not passed that point yet - not sure why retrying in TA lets it play the sound at the beginning though, seems to still be setting volume to 30...
Ah, it's probably the waterfall. The sfx is so compressed and crunchy it sounded like gravel to me.
