Recognize json files with different extensions

Is there a way to have it recognize a file that doesn't end in .json or .jsonp. I would like it to recognize a file like metrics.conf

new to the plug in and would also like to know if there is any extensibility to this plugin.

Writing in JS land all day, it seem that we would want functionality on things like .babelrc and .eslintrc etc
