Quick Button Delete not working

What Happened?

I understand this was reported in the past and marked as completed. However, this still does not work on my end with the most updated version.

When I press delete or backspace to delete a message, I can see the highlight move to the next message, however the message is not truly selected, as hitting delete or backspace again does not work. Rather, I still have to click on that next message before hitting delete/backspace again. I don't know if that is still an issue for all others, or something weird on my end.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Select message in pantheon mail
2. Hit delete
3. Message deletes, mail appears to highlight next message
4. Hit delete again, message does not delete
5. Click on message
6. Now hitting delete works

Expected Behavior

1. Select message in pantheon mail
2. hit delete
3. Message deletes, mail selects next message fully
4. Hit delete again, message deletes
5. No need to click on next message to delete next message

thanks for the detailed issue reports lately - they help tremendously to pin things down!

Can you verify if the aforementioned bug occurs in the unified folders only, or if it also behaves the wrong way in the per-account folders?

Thanks! I have the same issue for all folders including unified and individual account folders. I also tried adding an outlook account through the normal online accounts method (my other two accounts I still have added through the .deb evolution work-around) as I wanted to confirm this was an issue for me regardless of the method of adding accounts. I still have the same issue even with this email account added by the recommended/normal means.

To clarify, when I select a message, it highlights blue (if in light mode), and then I can delete it with backspace or delete. After I do that, the next message is highlighted in gray (not blue), and delete/backspace does not work, until I click on the message (which then changes the highlight from gray to blue) and then delete/backspace works.

That's not the same issue. The delete button works fine, what don't work is the Del or Backspace key. When I press them they only work on the first hit.

When I hit the button, the next message is greyed but when I hit delete it does not happen.
