Pasting doesn't work in "Files'" address field

Open danirabbit opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Discussed in https://github.com/elementary/files/discussions/2173

Originally posted by FunkySalamander April 25, 2023 I'm on horus with the following non-default repos enabled: -Jammy proposed -Elementary daily & staging

When I open the 'Files' app & try to paste a path into the address field, it duplicates the '/home/username' part of the pasted text & fails to replace the highlighted text. Pasting the same clipboard entry elsewhere reveals the clipboard entry is indeed correct without the additional prepended text.

See attached screenshot.

Thanks for the report. It seems from the screenshot that the pathbar contains the path to a file not to a folder. The pathbar interprets all paths as pointing to folders hence the the message that the folder vlc.desktop does not exist.

Could you clarify what the pathbar contained before pasting (after focusing), what the clipboard contained and what the result of pasting was?

I tried to reproduce this issue on the current master version and could not.

Hey, just getting back online after a longer hiatus than I wanted. Not sure what was going on here anymore, so I'm afraid I can't be of any more service w/ this issue, my apologies.

Going to close this as it could not be confirmed with the current version.
