AC3 or DTS via Scream?
Hello! This crazy think can be real in this world? I want to cast my AC3 or DTS sound while i whatch cinema, and receive this cast on Raspberry Pi with hat which i2s to optical SPDIF converter.
I understand what problems can be at hat side, but i first want to understand if it possible to cast AC3 and DTS sound like virtual passthrough device?
Thanks.
Transferring multichannel sound is possible, but only raw, not encoded as AC3 or DTS. Why do you want to decode on the Raspi?
Thanks for the answer. Sorry, I think I described the situation a little incorrectly. I do not want to decode in the Raspberry pi. I want, through the optical output of the hat, to send a signal to the optical input of my receiver, so that in the end the receiver will decode it.
Nope sorry, that does not work. The AC3/DTS signal isn't available in the kernel where the driver sits. The driver only sees the decoded PCM streams (which are normally pasted onto the hardware).
