MD5 is only broken for _cryptographic_ purposes. It's a perfectly fine option for non-critical, performance sensitive hashing. With that said, there is really no reason not to use SHA-256.
I don't think the screenshots are entirely necessary (plus we use PNG files). This should also be part of a broader set of documentation for the extension itself.
