You might need to completely remove the permission in privacy settings and add it again. I can assure that auto-type works correctly when configured.

What macOS version are you running? Is it beta release? Are you running any other security or privacy tools that may be interfering?

Split this into two commits. First is a simple save from the GUI tool. Second, add the changes you propose.
