error with pd.merge

Open pnmastenbroek opened this issue 5 years ago • 3 comments

When I used the code missions = pd.merge(missions, sample_total_weight, on='Mission') My phyton gave me an errorValueError: can not merge DataFrame with instance of type <class 'pandas.core.series.Series'>

I did a google search and found a solution missions = pd.DataFrame.join(missions, sample_total_weight, on='Mission') worked for me

Cheers and happy coding, Petra

Thank you @Kiwimaori ! I will take a look at that and modify the instructions to ensure that it works for others!

Hi @sguthals today I have changed my account name from kiwimaori to my real name. When I made my GitHub account I used a name I use for my homepage, but now I'm more into GitHub I have found out that it is better to be known by my name and not by that nickname (I also saw there are loads of people who use kiwi in there profile name 😉. Just to give you a headsup why you see this name change.

It's true! Though I will say when I worked at GitHub a lot of folks went by their GitHub username, which wasn't always their name 😄 It would be really funny when I met someone in person because I would literally call them by their username instead of their name - it was super common to do that 😆 I like going by my name too though - I find it's easier for folks to find me
