Selecting an option via the keyboard doesn't work with debugInfo(false)

The trouble is caused by this line and I can confirm it happens on the 1.11.8.

The main thing is that disabling debugInfo prevents scopes from being accessed from the "outside world", see: https://docs.angularjs.org/guide/production

I can't see why there's such a selection, if you can explain I can submit a PR to fix it
