No logs for this container

Open kelbyers opened this issue 6 years ago • 21 comments

Expected behavior

docker logs should be available in kitematic

Actual behavior

every running container only displays the text:

0 No logs for this container.

Information about the Issue

Prior to upgrading to Docker Desktop CE for Mac, Version 2.0.0.3 (31259), and Kitematic version 0.17.7, kitematic was able to show logs for all my running containers. After the upgrade, it never displays anything but the message above, no matter how many times I refresh the view. Using the docker cli shows the logs as expected.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Upgrade to Docker Desktop CE for Mac, Version 2.0.0.3 (31259), and Kitematic version 0.17.7
  2. Start a container running
  3. select a container in kitematic

I have the same issue with Windows 10. What version of Kitematic where you using that worked?

This also seems to be the case with Ubuntu Kitematic 0.17.7 and Docker version 18.09.2, build 6247962. Logs only show after I restart the container from within Kitematic.

I'm experiencing this issue as well. Not sure why there isn't more feedback on this issue

I also have this problem on Mac, Kitematic version 0.17.7. Downgrading to an older version works as expected. Restarting the container in Kitematic also loads the logs.

Also experienced this with Kitematic 0.17.7 on OSX -- downgrading to 0.17.6 fixed the issue. If you installed via Homebrew, you can do the following:

brew cask uninstall kitematic
brew cask install https://raw.githubusercontent.com/caskroom/homebrew-cask/d1a666dc23ceda4bbe17630b31c7ae5e7a0fe896/Casks/kitematic.rb

Same issue on Linux Kernel 5.0.5 Kitematic 0.17.7-1 Docker 18.09.4-1

Installing from kitematic-git (2275.3d40e133-1) instead of kitematic fixed this for me

I'm having the exact same issue on Kitematic-0.17.7-Mac & Docker Desktop Version 2.0.0.3 (31259), hosted by MacOS Mojave 10.14.3.

Workaround: move Kitematic-0.17.7-Mac to Trash, download and install Kitematic-0.17.6-Mac

@kelbyers Any updates on this issue?!

@MuhammadJamaluddin I'm not sure why you are asking me about this. I am a user of this application and reported a problem that I found.

If you want to bug someone about this, ping the maintainers of this repo. As far as I can tell, this app is essentially abandon-ware that someone updates once or twice a year with major changes.

I have the same issue with Windows 10.

On Windows 10, 0.17.6 is the latest version that works with docker (doesn't get the annoying upgrade message) and still shows logs.

It's November and there are still no logs on Windows 10. Version 0.17.9

jaredthirsk avatar Nov 11 '19 05:11 jaredthirsk

This is still broken for me in version 0.17.9 on mac

For clarity, I can open a containers logs via docker command line, but in kitematic everything shows as "0 No logs for this container."

I have same issue: Kinematic 0.17.9 & docker 2.1.0.5 on MacOS.

Still same the issue on Windows 10...

I was also having this issue with Kitematic 0.17.9 on macOS 10.15.2.

I just upgraded to Kitematic 0.17.10 (released Jan 7) and it seems to have fixed it.

jayqi avatar Jan 11 '20 00:01 jayqi

It also works on: Windows 10 Pro Docker version 19.03.5 Kitematic 0.17.10.0

Thudilie avatar Jan 22 '20 22:01 Thudilie

Fixed on MacOS Catalina 10.15.5, Docker Engine 19.03.8, Kitematic 0.17.11
