Feature Suggestion: Scroll Lock

Open justinnoel opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

I've been using HomeRow before it was called HomeRow (can't remember the name of the original project). I just updated from something like Homerow 0.3 to the newest version and lost the scrolling functionality.

Now, I'm using Keyboard Scroller. It works great except for the "scroll lock" that used to exist. In the past, if I used Ctrl + J, I'd be in scroll lock and could just press J or K to scroll as needed. Unfortunately, Keyboard Scroller requires me to enter the entire key sequence each time I want to scroll.

Would it be possible for you to add a preference for this functionality?

It's a bummer that this feature is no longer in the original homerow. I just purchased a license before I checked the whole app basically was rebuilt and no longer works as I was expecting it. Having a scroll lock functinality is way better for homerow users, because we don't want to map our capslock key to some hyper or anything similar. I want a shortcut that switches to scroll mode and esc to switch out of it.

@uloco I'm also disappointed about the change in Homerow the now requires 2 apps. However, somewhere the dev explained the tech debt in Homerow prevented the newly improved scrolling in Keyboard Scroller. 🤷‍♂️

You can roll back to an earlier version of Homerow that does both. But I'm hoping the developer will modify Keyboard Scroller so I don't have to.
