Add suggested base to the basic sets
Add the appropriate base that supports clips and magnets to the cut stone basic set. I tried my first of a floor and a wall, which turned out great, then realized the bases were not a part of the suggested set. I found a base & printed it, but then realized it was the wrong one :)
Now, admittedly, these are all n00b mistakes on my part, but it would def help the onboarding process to make the initial experience as "point", "click", "print" friendly as possible!
(btw, I'm still happy to PR some of this if its helpful)
The feedback I got on the thingiverse tabletop group chat was to print a clip & base from the default OpenLock set.
Wondering if I really need to just started with a pre-existing set & then add OpenForge, I went to printablescenery.com and got the base pack. Printing a copy of each of the pieces here now to see if it helps provide direction.
I'm pretty sure this isn't necessary, but it solves the (base + clip + floor + wall) dilemma as a one-stop-set, though the bases & floor are a single piece && there isn't a way to add the magnet, which is really appealing about OpenForge.
Also, it appears that these walls are outside the 2x2 floor blocks, which is something I had not previously considered. The OpenForge sets seem to do the wall as 1/2 the outer tile.
The feedback you've given has all been pretty useful. I'm going to look at some revisions this weekend to sand down some of these sharper edges. Thanks!
Oh great! Def hope so. You are giving away a ton of free stuff, so I def don't want to load you up with more work, rather I'm interested in making the onboarding process as easy & painless as possible so new people (like me) can get up & running quick!
Hopefully your patreon can grow as well. :)
So, there's still no suggested bases for the basic set. I'm an absolute beginner, and I came to this tutorial from Thingiverse because I ended up with 3 different bases. Then the suggested sets to print here have no bases at all! A little help for the n00b crowd would be awesome! Can someone just post a link here to what bases to use for the walls and floors that are suggested. I tried to just find it on Thingiverse, but... hot. mess.
Thanks in advance!
