Joystick operating voltage

I'm looking into using the guts of a gulikit hall stick to replace the internals of a Quest 2 controller thumbstick, and I'm trying to figure out whether I should have some form of voltage protection.

However, I have been entirely unable to find any information on the subject, though I have found a hint that the Quest is using pulsed 2.8 volt power for the sticks (not that I've measured it yet myself)

The sticks are simply an analog voltage divider. 1.8v on Joycons, but 3.3v is fine.
