Original features to be implemented in TrueCraft

Open ddevault opened this issue 10 years ago • 9 comments

Suggest ideas for original features (i.e. ones that do not exist in Minecraft) here. Note that the features here are very tenative.

  • [ ] The sky dimension
  • [ ] Optifine features (optional)
    • [ ] Connected textures
    • [ ] "Better snow"
    • [ ] "Natural textures"
  • [ ] Use of extra snowfall block metadata
  • [ ] Some means of obtaining ice blocks without hax
  • [ ] Rewritten UDP newtork protocol

None of these features will be considered until after TrueCraft has full beta 1.7.3 feature parity.

For obtaining ice blocks, one idea I had in mind was to give golden tools 'silk touch' properties, e.g., gold shovels to obtain grass blocks, gold picks to obtain ice and ore blocks, etc. It would give gold tools an actual purpose, rather than just being a novelty item.

That's not a bad idea. They'd probably have to be nerfed a bit more, though.

Nerfed? How so?

So that the tools take less time to wear down and break.

Ah, okay.

Another idea : since chain armor is completely uncraftable by normal gameplay, make them acquirable by chests located in the abandoned mine shafts.

One feature I've always wanted (since the days of the Seeecret Friday Updates) was the ability to fuse gravel into cobblestone in the same way that cobblestone can be fused into smooth stone.

Another feature that I had envisioned adding in a TrueCraft-like mod (before I accepted that the planned stable modding API was never going to happen) was better underground terrain generation, so that underground gravel and soil would only be found as the floor of certain types of passages or as the bed and shore of underground rivers or lakes.

Upgrading gravel to cobblestone is a neat idea, but holds up a little less when you can't reverse the process like you can for stone. Will think about it.

As for terrain generation, that's also a pretty cool idea. Will put some thought towards it as well.

Better than throwing stack after stack into the nearest pool of lava once I've got an entire chest full of the stuff in case I need to farm it for flint.

(And, assuming the terrain generation isn't improved, It'd make it a lot easier to fill in the voids I'm left with when I hit a clump of it while carving out a pre-planned system of tunnels.)
