It's like a japanese version of deviantart. You'll need to login to view user submissions either by making an account or logging in with your facebook.

In pixiv, clicking a thumbnail will take you to the Image page containing a scaled down medium sized version of the picture and information about it. The size is standardized and if the original picture is smaller than this, it is not scaled up.

It is not possible to have a picture that is smaller than the thumbnail because pixiv has a minimum resolution limit when submitting uploads.

Clicking the medium picture will take you to another page containing nothing but the original picture. This can be very large because there is no upload size limit in pixiv.

Because the original picture may be oversized, I recommend that the preview use the medium image.

Or actually, BUG REPORT: pixiv.net no longer works.  It worked when
I added it in May 2012.
