neovim: `"take token"` only selects from current position until the end of the token in normal terminal

• saying take first token row one/take token works fine in normal or insert mode (in text editor)
• however, in normal terminal mode, saying take token when in the middle of a word only selects until the end of the word, but doesn't select the start of the word.
