As a minimum viable... this could just be a page that contains links to other pages

Since we track Article "View Counts", we could query by say Top 10 Articles by View Count and those articles would be the "Featured Articles" to be displayed on HomePage either under the HomePage Article or maybe as a side vertical panel?

Sure... this sounds like a good start to the feature.

I also like the idea of having side-panels that are generated by code and inserted into the layout. Let's discuss that idea further as well
