Mac M3 Pro (Apple Chip) updated with macOS Sequoia 15.0 App not working now

Open mortix003 opened this issue 1 year ago • 50 comments

I was using Macs Fan Control for months without an issue. Yesterday I updated the operating system to Sequoia 15.0 and now the app doesn't turn on the fans at any configuration. Not with custom speed and not with max speed.

I deleted and reinstalled the app and still nothing.

Thanks for your help.

Now it's working. I don't know did you do smth, but thanks 😊

UPD(10 minutes later): I have news, when the fans are spinning, they can be controlled as you like, when the fans are at zero, they do not react to anything. So it doesn't work again

Same here! It seemed to work for a bit, Now I can't control at all! Please fix! I would even pay for a fix or donate! This is very important to me! Thankyou!

Looks like this is not just MacOS 15 Sequoia issue as it also stopped working for me after updating to MacOS 14.7 Sonoma

Having the same issue on Sonoma 14.7.

It looks like the Sequoia 15.0 just killed Mac Fan app. Once it launched suddenly in full blast, but after restarting it's dead.

p.s. Apple might want to overheat and trottle its devices to make you buying Mac Studio for instance. I used to have Mac Mini M2 Pro, whatever temperature it has - it never starts Fan on maximum, so make it trottle and slows down, might be an idea from Apple :)

Now I switched to Mac Book M3 Pro, same here, you really need to control fans manually.

I kept from installing Sequoia for long, and Mac Fan worked with Sonoma perfectly.

Pretty sure this has to be MacOS issue because I can't even control fans with iStat. 2 different apps not working.

I also have the same problem, do you know who is in charge of solving this? Apple or the app? Maybe there is a solution or Apple will no longer let you manage the fans, hopefully it will be solved soon. Do you know what other means we have to deliver these damages?

It is so naive if think that apple will take care about your problems. Have you bought an item? Good for you! You have spend some money, thats it! Basically, if you have problems, apple doesn't care about you. This is the company's position.

Also, this Mac Fan Control "issue" can easily be a feature from Apple.

As I mentioned above, my previous Mac Mini M2 Pro never switched itself to 5000 or 6800rpm fan mode, even I experienced the temperature above 88C It looks like Apple wants your gear to be overheated, then it throttles (slows down CPU to make it cooler) and you like:

  • I might need "a better" gear like Mac Studio, because my current Mac Mini is really slow when rendering a video.

It could be just like that, very typical for the company who used to slows down all versions of iPhones with a help of new iOS

p.s. personally I plan to roll back to Sonoma, and thats it. No more surprises with updates :)

It looks like Apple made some changes to Sequoia and now Mac Fan Control cant actually CONTROL fans if you decide to run them. I see that I can use Full Blast only when I use Lightroom import (100% usage of CPU) then going over 45C macbooks starts its fans, in this moment Mac Fan Control can really controls the fans. When the temperature goes down, Mac Fan control actually controls nothing. So basically, what Apple did "you bought your MacBook M3 Pro, this is good! But Apple will control it, apple will slow it down. You cant control it! :) You bought a gear from Apple? You cant use it as you want! Pretty typical for apple.

Please, don't expect that Apple will fix it, they did it for purpose. Another thing if Mac Fan Control developers can fight this problem (I hope they can, otherwise the app became pretty much useless)

I’m having the same problem, and I can’t see my CPU core temperatures either. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know!

JEMcats avatar Sep 29 '24 20:09 JEMcats

if you are looking for the CPU core temperatures for the MacBookPro20,2, the solution is to download the beta. #721

JEMcats avatar Sep 30 '24 01:09 JEMcats

Still no beta or any workaround ?

I worry apple is locking down their devices more, If you want your option to be heard about users wanting to be able to control their fans, I suggest submitting feedback to apple. Hopefully it's just a bug. https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Same problem here. Seems to be a problem with Macs Fan Control temperature monitoring system. Other apps (e.g. TG Pro) works normally. Can't wait to get an update from the team. Screenshot 2024-10-02 at 09 01 14 Screenshot 2024-10-02 at 09 02 49

TG Pro doesn't work for me either. Sensors work but not a chance to manually start fans. It's 3rd app that can't start fans to spin. Apple did break something (or they did that on purpose) with 14.7 Sonoma and Sequoia.

cigsz avatar Oct 02 '24 13:10 cigsz

It will unlock the fans when you hit 90 degrees C.

Someone said 15.0.1 fixed it, but deleted their comment, can anyone confirm or deny?
