The settings have been modfied warning

Sometimes the algorithm that determines if changes were made to a settings category were made doesn't work properly. This seems to happen with the device section especially if there is no device at a all (and the category does not exist in the settings file)

Another problem is the highlighted column changes even if the users presses cancel when he sees the warning about unsaved changes.
