Messages are never marked as read

Describe the bug Since the update to 6.0.0 messages are not marked as read anymore

Expected behavior They should be marked as read

  • Desktop

  • Converse.js 6.0.0

Think I'm seeing the same, in https://github.com/conversejs/converse.js/issues/1832 after I click on that contact the New message section stays there even if no user is listed.

Even after logout and login, the new messages doen't seem to be always deleted Screenshot from 2020-01-15 15-24-20 If I click on the user, there are no actual messages to retrieve.
