It may be desirable to not render ligatures in at the line the cursor is pointing to (such as editors don't want that).

contour should definitely be able to conditionally disable ligature rendering in alternate screen buffer (such as used by editors!).

Maybe also for main screen buffer? (secondary option?)

I believe gnome-terminal is not rendering ligatures in the cursor's line (TODO: verify, and also check konsole)
