Bad default window size/position with multiple displays, on Windows
Bug description
Most times I start Podman Desktop, on Windows 11, where I have two displays active, the default window size is huge across both displays, and I have to multi-step resize it to get it usable. I'm guessing one relevant detail is that one of my displays is high def, and the other is not.
This isn't the only app I've seen this behavior on, but it's by far the most frequent culprit. I imagine some kind of default positioning that is "centered across all displays".
Operating system
Windows 11
Installation Method
Installer from website/GitHub releases
Version
1.5.0
Steps to reproduce
No response
Relevant log output
No response
Additional context
Perhaps this only happens after an update to a new version. I just started again after the last occurrence of this, and the window did return to the position and size I'd manually corrected after the problem.
thanks for the report @dougbreaux
your screens are configured with mirror effect ? when you're launching Podman Desktop it appears on the two screens ?
No, using Extend, not Duplicate (mirror).
Just an extra data point on this ...
On macOS Podman Desktop doesn't seem to save window dimensions at all (no external monitor, just laptop monitor):
Hardware / Software:
- Apple MacBook Pro M3 Max
- macOS 14.4.1
- Podman Desktop 1.9.1
- Podman 4.9.4
Steps to reproduce:
(via maximize)
- Open Podman Desktop
- Maximize window
- cmd-q to exit
- re-open Podman Desktop
- Note window in initial default size and centered on screen
(explicit window resize without maximize)
- Open Podman Desktop
- Resize and move Podman Desktop window
- cmd-q to exit
- re-open Podman Desktop
- Note window in initial default size and centered on screen
