YouTube link opens in two tabs
Hi, I found that when I click a YouTube link, it always opens in two tabs. It is quite annoing, so I decided to report this issue. At now I'm using Firefox 61.0b7 64bit.
I am unable to reproduce it. Can you please send debug logs?
How to get a debug log?
- Open a new tab and navigate to "about:debugging"
- Tick the "Enable debugging" checkbox (untick again when you're done posting the Issue)
- Scroll down to Temporary Containers and click the "Debug" link
- Confirm the dialog with OK, you now see "Developer Tools" with "Console" selected
- Type into the console "log.DEBUG=true" (without the quotes), it should respond with "true" (type "log.DEBUG=false" into the console when you're done posting the Issue)
- Now reproduce your issue
- Switch back to the "Developer Tools", select everything in the console
- Copy everything in the console, paste it into a .txt file, save the file, and attach it to the issue
When I'm typing "log.DEBUG=true" (without the quotes of course) I'm getting "ReferenceError: log is not defined". log.txt
I installed exactly the same version, but I can't understand that. If anyone else has this problem, I would ask them to report it here.
I checked this once again. It seems that the problem exist only when I'm clicking on the YouTube video posted on Facebook. I'm using Facebook Container addon. Maybe this will help.
If you click on a facebook link in a google container will there also two tabs opened?
(@pb-86) I was having the same problem, but currently (maybe after some updates) things work as expected.
@Perflyst No, I haven't experienced such a problem. @gutierri I checked it once again and problem still exist for me.
@pb-86 What version of the extension are you using? Apparently version 1.3.1 solved this (d2441a2).

@gutierri Actually I'm using version 1.3.1. Apart from Google Container, I only use Facebook Container and uBlock Origin. I'm also thinking of trying to install Firefox Stable instead of Beta. Maybe Firefox is the problem.
I was able to reproduce the problem! But the behavior is strange, because if it has a link in some post it opens a single tab, now if it is a shared link that came from YouTube (with thumbnail, title and description) it opens two tabs. Not only that, but if the link has shortened(e.g: t.com/foobar), then it opens a single tab, otherwise (https://youtube.com/foobar) it opens two.

@Perflyst Sorry for the confusion but it turned out that after clicking the link to Facebook in Google's search results it also opens in two tabs.
I dont use facebook, so I need to ask you.
Is there a redirect from facebook like on youtube for links? https://www.youtube.com/redirect?q=www.custom.tld
But if you say that also happens from google to facebook, I think there is an incompatibility between both addons.
Happened to me too. Ugh.
Reproducible from Facebook.com, with Facebook container installed, highlight any text on that Facebook -> right click -> search with Google.
100% reproducible.
Edit: just tested, on Instagram.com as well.
Okay, then it looks like there's an incompatibility between these two addons.
Happens for me when opening YouTube-Links from within a Twitter Container.
The problem seems to occur when opening the container from inside another container as @mweinelt said; I can also reproduce this bug from a reddit container. I guess it's just incompatible add-ons like with the Facebook one.
I have temporary containers installed. When I open the YouTube link from another container, the first new tab of YT is in the Google container. At the same time, temporary containers is signing a temporary container to YT in another tab. Then, this second tab of the temporary container is moved back to the Google container.
Fixed by resetting Temporary containers.
