Trying to convert Float8_e4m3fn to the MPS backend but it does not have support for that dtype.

Your question

Hey, I’m using a MacBook Pro M4. The Flux1-dev-fp8 model released by ComfyUI doesn’t work on macOS (the same goes for the sd3.5_large_fp8_scaled model). When I try to run it, I get an error: “Trying to convert Float8_e4m3fn to the MPS backend but it does not have support for that dtype.” I found some advice from other users saying to set the “data type” in the UNet loader to “default” and the clip loader to “t5xxl fp16,” but that didn’t work for me. ChatGPT mentioned that macOS doesn’t support fp8. Does anyone have a fix for this? (Sorry, I’m a designer with no coding experience, so please explain it a bit more clearly.)

Also, I want to tell the ComfyUI devs: More than half of the designers in the world use Apple computers. Could you please develop a model that works with macOS? That way, more people will start using ComfyUI, right?
