[Suggestion] Badging for contributor recognition
Description: Create a badging system to recognize contributions in the TAG.
Impact:
Help provide recognition for work done by community members, by providing a badge (like credly badge) that can be displayed on github/linkedin. This will help provide professional recognition for members, and spread awareness of TAG efforts throughout platforms.
This will also help incentivize participation
Scope:
- Work with CNCF for badging, starting with CFP reviewer badges, and security reviewer badges, etc.
- Extend this to figure out how we can define our own badges with CNCF.
Additional Info: Current ticket open to track: CNCFSD-927
As part of effort to streamline membership recognition in place of member list https://github.com/cncf/tag-security/pull/854
good idea.
Good idea.
Helps with (1) supporting continuing education hours submissions (a related thought?); and (2) socializing within our large enterprises.
There is probably a LinkedIn "sidecar."

Update: Kudos to the efforts! Program committee members and speakers for the Cloud Native SecurityCon are receiving the Credly badges. Would be happy to help extending this for other categories of contributions

So credly badges partially accomplish a bearer recognition of contributions. It's great as events tend to epitomize the culmination of yearly contributions to the tag. On the other hand, not all contributions can commit to participating to the event program committee or speak. I'd be keen to find other ways to recognize contributions which are not necessarily captured by Credly or even GitHub stats. There are many ways people show up and participate. Maybe its in form of shoutouts and awards, back at events, or in regular meetings, as well as social channels. In the absence of a platform to do so, I'll be closing the issue for now, but take as a callout to recognize and elevate individual's participation more often.
