Python shops of Chicago

Lets build a database of how Python is used in the city so that developers (and job seekers) from both inside and outside the city can easily see what Chicago has to offer.

@tanyaschlusser currently has the following fields on her google docs table:

  • Company
  • Contact
  • Product
  • Backend
  • Frontend
  • Devops
  • Analytics
  • Cloud
  • Year Founded
  • Size
  • Valuation
  • Note

Which looks like a great starting point, and may be add

  • website/jobs link.
  • physical address (think how cool it would look on a google map!)

Having a simple form on the Chipy site with the above fields would allow companies to enter the data in future. Linking it from the front page would make it easy to find.

I don't think many companies have an accurate, public, realistic valuation, so I'd suggest leaving that out. Maybe some kind of 'Funding Status'? "Bootstrapped / Seed / Funded / Acquired / Internal Startup / Enterprise" ?

Examples: Zoro -> Internal Startup, Braintree -> Acquired, BofA -> Enterprise, Braintree 2010 -> Bootstrapped, Braintree 2012 -> Funded

That's nice. It captures the intent of what I wanted, which was to figure out who was new / up-and-coming and who was established. And the information is more static.
