Revoking access from the plugin in Spotify Account settings and re-installing opened the browser again to auth the plugin. Not sure if this still represents something that could be fixed...

It seems this is an issue with bluez https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/880 bluez 5.77 should fix it, either when it's updated in SteamOS or by upgrading it with pacman. I don't want to...

update: installing bluez 5.77-1 from pacman does fix this. when that version is included in a steamOS beta update it should be fixed for anyone on the beta channel.
