We can extend the existing plugin with middleware functionality similar to https://github.com/n4bb12/verdaccio-github-oauth-ui

or even better a middleware plugin verdaccio-oidc for all OpenID Connect compatible providers

There is a PR in verdaccio that might be useful with such functionality from the UI, but it seems a bit abandoned
