Seeking Help: Difference between activate, focus, and select with usage scenarios

Hi all, I’m quite puzzled by the concepts of activate, focus, and select. Could someone please clarify the distinctions among them? When do they trigger respectively? And which one should I use in different situations? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
