Bot goes online but refuses all commands

I downloaded the code, opened with Visual Studio Code, followed your README, and commands fall flat. The bot has admin permissions in the portal and in the server, yet nothing. I have tried to reinstall your zip, follow your readme to the dot, and still nothing is responding with the default commands.
