No documentation on how to interact safetly with documents or audio files on my linux partitions

Open formlessdao opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

HI, I have not found so far any mention in the documentation on how Windows apps that run on Bottles interact with files outside of the container... documents, audio files on my Linux partitions etc that I want to edit using those Windows apps. How do I move my files inside Bottles to edit them there? And where do I put them, in what folder? What is the recommended safe way to do this?

Hi, check this https://docs.usebottles.com/flatpak/expose-directories/use-system-home

Thanks. I'm a Linux beginner and the page you linked does not inform me clearly how I transfer the files from outside Bottles to that homedir location. Does the location exist before installing my first windows program in a bottle or it is generated only after installing the first program?

It would honestly help a lot complete beginners if either step by step screenshots are used or you make a short video where you show an example of modifying a file on a Linux partition with Notepad++ installed using Bottles. That example would probably be enough to show how you guys recommend interacting securely and not exposing incorrectly apps in Bottles to your Linux system.
