@Sarnath, this will be implemented when we implement real time collaboration, which is in [progress](https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/issues/5382).

The RTC work is ongoing and being tracked in https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyterlab/issues/5382. Adding the server side model is an extra step after that groundwork is laid.
