Blazegraph status & GPU acceleration

Open selforganized opened this issue 8 years ago • 9 comments

Hi,

  1. Last commit on your github was august 2016. What's the development status of blazegraph? Is it still active?

  2. Your github page (https://github.com/blazegraph/database) mentions "GPU Acceleration" but your website (https://www.blazegraph.com/product/) puts a red cross (meaning not supported I presume) next to "GPU Acceleration". So does Blazegraph support GPU acceleration or not?

Thanks

Thanks for your interest in Blazegraph! The primary Blazegraph development is done closed-source with open source releases, though we do have a number of contributors with open source contributions under an appropriate CLA. We keep master inline with the latest official release (2.1.4).

We are getting ready to make 2.1.5 release and have just posted the RC: Blazegraph 2.1.5 RC.

Regarding GPU acceleration, the Blazegraph community edition is compatible with GPU acceleration, but that feature is not available in open source.

@beebs-systap So how can one get a hold of a community edition with GPU acceleration?

Blazegraph GPU is not offered as an open source / community edition product.

Thanks, Bryan

In that case you should remove the mention of "GPU Acceleration" from your github README. Right now you're giving the impression that the Blazegraph hosted on github supports GPU acceleration which is misleading.

The statements regarding GPU acceleration are really confusing.

@beebs-systap Brad, is the 2.1.5 release coming out anytime soon? Also is GPU acceleration ready for production?

I notice that from your site the download is still 2.1.4. Any news on an update?

Well, since Blazegraph was bought by Amazon [1] [2] I doubt we'll ever get an update of Blazegraph.

If @beebs-systap or @thompsonbry could verify it would be great.

@nemanjavuk thanks for this. There is nothing to say such on their site, which is not very useful!!!
