customs columns in events.json not seen at root level

version 1.9.9, fmri data issue for events.json for custom columns

-- there is a warning saying a column is not described when the json is at the root folder -- that same warning disappears if inside the subject(s) without any changes to the file (well except adding sub-xxx_ses-xxx)
