So, these macdocs-tests are interesting because... they run on ubuntu-arm. I haven't specifically tested that environment yet, so I'll do that now while pushing those debugging updates to the logger...

So yeah, the mac versions are being built on ARM and google's public chrome repo doesn't supply an arm version. At the current moment, Ubuntu 24.02 repos supplies the most...

@stefanv The macos-docs actions are actually running on linux-ARM, not on mac: https://github.com/scikit-image/scikit-image/actions/runs/15568721703/workflow?pr=7803#L17

Pushed a change to linux from linux-arm, since its much cheaper than mac minutes-wise.
