Mobile Hub is deprecated. What is the Amplify deployment method please?

I tried to deploy using the suggested "Mobile Hub" method, but mobile hub appears to be deprecated, and it takes me to the Amplify console.

I tried importing via the Amplify console using "Deploy without GIT provider" and upload the zip. Doesn't work, I get a dead site at the end of the deployment. When I access the generated URL all I see is:

<%= htmlWebpackPlugin.tags.headTags %> <%= htmlWebpackPlugin.tags.bodyTags %>

Can you please document the process to get this running in the Amplify console?
