Downgrading to React v17 fixed it. But, that shouldn't have to be the solution :/

Fixed in expo-dev-client v1.2.1 as noted in the issue that @hirbod linked to.

The only way to proceed is to fork the library and use your fork. The issues are annoying as hell and the maintainer seems to have abandoned the project.
