ISO 6709 is an interesting read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_6709
This is really interesting. Where should the validation occur? We can definitely verify that the latitude is sensible for UTM conversions and catch that case. Should user's be expected to...
There are some quality tests for some of the transformations, e.g. tests for transverse-Mercator projection were taken from _GeographicLib_. I should double check each transformation before closing this. Also that...
Yes, I geodesic calculation has always been a desired feature for this package. From my perspective, a PR working this into here would be quite welcome.
Yeah, a direct source translation from geographic lib has worked for me in the past.
As a prelude: Like all great works, I feel that reading John's julep was a process of gradually transcending many layers of deeper conceptual understanding :) That said, after much...
I think so far we only have `euclidean_distance` implemented. There was a PR to add a great-circle calculation: https://github.com/JuliaGeo/Geodesy.jl/pull/53 Out of curiousity, what "geodesic line data" would be useful in...
At the moment we have Mercator (UTM) projections (and lat/lon, ECEF, ENU) only. It would be cool to support more projections natively.
Everything is currently implement in SI units, so you get metres. Do you think using a seperate package for unit conversion would be suitable?
Recall also that distance is direct Cartesian distance so far - we'd love to support geodesic distances too.
