Discussion: adoption/market outlook

Open brianpetro opened this issue 5 years ago • 6 comments

Hi Everyone,

Working with amp4email has been great, and I'm looking forward to using it more.

But, I'm worried about the future adoption or even discontinuation of the project.

For example, Outlook has recently discontinued their developer preview https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/amphtml/

What should developers and entrepreneurs be thinking or doing in light of this?

For example, I have some ideas that require amp4email. Previously, I was content with a Gmail-first approach, assuming that other platforms would eventually follow suit.

With the loss of outlook, not to mention Google's reputation for canceling products, I'm starting to think that future adoption is a flawed assumption.

There is so much potential here, and I believe it's only a matter of time before an amp-esque solution becomes prevalent in email.

Is there anything worth mentioning to indicate that this project won't simply go the way of glass, +, reader, etc.?

I'd hate to sign off with this negative energy, so I'd like to reiterate how excited I am for this technology. Newsletter businesses have been growing rapidly, and this technology is a force multiplier in terms of value delivered to subscribers.

Thanks for your contributions & insights. I'm hoping we all get some good news in regards to the future of amp4email.

Hi @brianpetro, It is a shame that Outlook.com have removed support, but I think we can offset that with the 2 big steps forward that happened around the same time.

With support coming to Yahoo more users will be able to see the AMP emails and with support coming to Salesforce more senders will be able to send Amp emails.

We are planning to send out dynamic emails for our users to avoid context switching, having tried out AMP mails & actionable messages separately, works perfect. What I need, Is there any means to send a single email with both AMP & actionable messages content & the email client should parse accordingly. I tried inserting actionable message script in the mail, but it wasn't a valid AMP mail. PFA screenshot.

IS there any other way work around ? Thanks

Hi @bharathEN the actionable message script needs to go in the HTML part of the email. It won't be valid in the AMP part and also Outlook won't pick it up.

Sending actionable messages via email
