This would take a ton of work and the dev hasn't even started. If I need BIMP I can just keep calling it forever in my GIMP 2.10.38 Flatpak.

+1 This really does need to be addressed, please.

GIMP 3 is now at RC3 stage and has replaced GIMP v2.10.x in the Debian Sid and Testing repositories. Which means that the next release of Debian Stable, as well as Debian derived OS's (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint, Neon et al) will provide GIMP v3.x. I understand a similar pattern is emerging in all major GNU/Linux distributions. Granted, so we can use Appimage or Flatpaks of v2.10.x for a while. But running unsupported software should never be considered a long term solution.

GIMP updated on my laptop today I was disappointed to see BIMP was not available. I'll be downgrading to version 2 for now.

I think its clear that this project is no longer being worked on, or if it is, its happening slowly. For those wanting batch export functionality on GIMP3, I recommend using a plugin called Batcher.

Thank you. Sad to see BIMP not being developed. I hope Alessandro is OK. Meantime, Batcher does seem to offer a reasonably viable alternative. It installs very easily, certainly on my Debian Testing machines. Simply decompress the contents of the "batcher" directory in the zip archive into... ~/.config/GIMP/3.0/plug-ins/batcher/ All the Python dependencies are already satisfied by Debian. Batcher is accessed from the "Batch Convert..." item on GIMP's "File" menu.

GIMP 3.0 is now standard with Testing and Sid branches of Debian.
