Backup as a Service

Open matthieu-robin opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

As a User of a Tenant, I would like to be able to backup my K8s clusters and/or my VM and/ or my Applications on an external S3, NFS, others... I would like to be able to configure retention, scheduling, see the disk usage of my backup space. I would like to be able to restore one of my ressources.

UPD: LINSTOR v1.31.0-rc.1 allows to handle ZFS snapshots in a better way. We need to update LINSTOR before implementing backup functionality https://github.com/LINBIT/linstor-server/releases/tag/v1.31.0-rc.1

@kvaps We have LINSTOR 1.31.0 since Cozystack v0.31.0 https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack/releases/tag/v0.31.0

Hi, @matthieu-robin. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the cozystack team manage their backlog and am marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You requested a Backup as a Service feature for tenants to back up Kubernetes clusters, VMs, and applications to external storage like S3 or NFS.
  • The feature would include options for retention, scheduling, monitoring, and restoration.
  • A contributor noted that LINSTOR v1.31.0-rc.1 improves ZFS snapshot handling, which is important for backup functionality.
  • It was confirmed that LINSTOR 1.31.0 is included since Cozystack v0.31.0, so the environment is ready for backup feature development.
  • The issue remains unresolved with no implemented backup feature yet.

Next Steps:

  • Please let me know if this backup feature is still relevant to the latest version of Cozystack by commenting on this issue.
  • If I do not hear back within 7 days, I will automatically close this issue.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!
