Please provide a Flatpak package for Linux

Open thecursedfly opened this issue 7 years ago • 8 comments

Hi,

As you may have heard, Flatpak packages are a universal method to distribute applications for Linux. Anybody can download and install the flatpak applications from flatpak.org (or alternative flatpak repositories). This is a preferred method to distribute user applications, allowing for cross distro compatibility, no dependency hassles, the possibility to use just released versions even on older distributions, possibility to sandbox the application, and more... This would also allow me to install the application on Fedora since there is also no rpm package.

Therefore, please provide a Flatpak package for Linux.

The developer documentation can be found here: http://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/

Thanks

Since this app is not available on AUR (yet), I also am interested to see it as appimage, flatpack or snap. I assume that when this will be ready, we will see some articles presenting it? It's important to show off :)

I would also love having AUR git version. Saves troubles of creating desktop file manually and looking for icon and of course system would look and install updates. However, till that time appimage works fine :+1:
