Icon on Tahoe 26.0 Beta has grey border

Describe the bug MacOS Tahoe 26 (beta) only allows app icons to be rounded rects. Any irregularly shaped icons will be put in "squircle jail".

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Install Macos Tahoe
  • View Xcodes app in the Dock or Finder

Expected behavior Icon should be updated to use a new rounded rect outline (ideally using the new .icon format)

It's probably worth considering whether Apple will use this "squircle jail" as its final default for app icons, as it's pretty ugly imo. It may be that they revert the decision or instead make the jail prettier by making it more glass-like.

Whether it's worth designing a new icon while we're still on Beta 1 is something to think about.

Gross - maybe it's time for a new icon?

Like you said - I may not touch it until Sep/Oct as Apple might change it back.
