[CS2] - Game freezes after an indefinite time (Windows)
Your system information
- System information from steam (
Steam->Help->System Information) in a gist: - Have you checked for system updates?: [Yes]
Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:
The game runs normally but after an (indefinite) time it freezes. I can't have any interaction with the game I'm in and I can't close it normally either. I try to use ALT + TAB to change windows but the screens remain black and without interaction. I can only close the game through Run with the following command: taskkill /f /im cs2.exe.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Open the Game
- Play the game for a few minutes (indefinite)
- Wait the game freeze
- WIN + R (Run): taskkill /f /im cs2.exe
I get similar issues on only Intel as well, along with Hitches
Maybe the same thing that happens on the AMD GPUs
Same here! Sometimes the game hard-freezes in the first match, sometimes the game “lasts” for 3-4 matches, it's absolutely random.
specs
OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) x86_64Kernel: 6.1.0-12-amd64
CPU: Intel i5-4670 (4) @ 3.800GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
Still got that issue after recent update. Thought memory leak regarding particles would fix it. I am not sure if it was a smoke grenade that triggered the crash afterwards.
I also do not know if this is only in matchmaking. Maybe I should spam 100 smokes in offline or something.
on Linux (Debian 12 with Nvidia 1070), soon has a gun is shoot or throws a grenade and it explodes, the game instant freezes and need to manually kill it.
On Debian 12 with a GTX 1660 Super with nvidia-525 drivers on X11, sometimes the game just crashed whenever a smoke or molly is thrown on multiplayer. Runs fine in practice mode.
Game works perfectly in gamersclub and faceit. I send a ticket to then and they showed me the path to the dump files, i recommend that everyone send to them. The path is: C/program files(x86)/steam/dumps, inside the dumps folder may have a file about the cs2 crash.
Can confirm with iMac 18,3 (AMD Radeon Pro 570, full specs here) on Windows, happens every ~30 minutes. It just froze and wont unfreeze. (not crashing tho)
Game runs smoothly btw, ~150 FPS, so I don't believe this is caused by old hardware.
the problem still persists I have the same problem and when the game is not responding I have to restart the computer and I cannot open the task manager in any way. I have Windows 10 (22H2)19045.2006 build. My errors were still there before I did the windows update. I contacted Steam support and they couldn't help me with anything, I would appreciate if there are friends who can help me.
