> Maybe could it be possible for gnome-mpv to warn new users that xdg-desktop-portal-gtk is not installed (in case it is not installed?) and it is needed for proper function?...

`xdg-desktop-portal` just gained a file-transfer portal and GTK4 will be using this for DnD support; No-eta on GTK3 support.

Trying out Clapper and I'm a big fan of the UI. It doesn't do floating video controls when windowed and has them docked under like Celluloid. I *think* always floating...

One thing that GNOME folks immediately pointed out when discussing this, is Celluloid doesn't have a nice default state, e.g. https://developer.gnome.org/hig/patterns/feedback/placeholders.html

It might be a discussion for flatpak/xdg-desktop-portal (depends on what portal you use too) but a minimal reproducer would be important to ensure thats where the problem is.

Most distros would never ships gnome-mpv by default. They have a huge investment in Totem and GStreamer and the whole patent situation of ffmpeg often makes it less than usable.

I'm saying the worst they would do is say "Distros you shouldn't install this by default" which they will never do anyway. They don't suddenly take over your project and...

Sure, I don't think anybody involved wants that.

Its just a standard GTK CSD window. You could test various other applications (like `gtk3-widget-factory`).
